Professor Amudha Poobalan, Personal Chair (IAHS) - attendance at the AMEE conference.
I have just returned from the AMEE conference in the beautiful city of Barcelona!! I learnt so much ...met so many educators and enjoyed the city. I had the privilege of leading a Masterclass on Research Essentials Skills for educators. This three-hour workshop provided a comprehensive introduction to the research methodologies most relevant to medical education research. The tutor team consisted of experts from Australia, Canada, Israel, and Japan. It was attended by 36 early-to mid-career clinical and academic faculty, and medical students of all levels. It was such an energising experience to be among medical students, educators and tutors from different backgrounds and different parts of the world. I made a journey from being a clinician to a public health researcher and educator and we, as tutors, were all from varied subject disciplines and had different methodological expertise. However, what connected us was the passion to build the younger generation in pedagogical research and also steer the healthcare professionals to use evidence in their clinical practice and inform their teaching practices.
