With 500 years of excellence and five Nobel Prizes under our belt, we continue to be recognised as a world leading institution. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework, over three quarters of the University’s research was classified as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. We have a focus on impact and innovation in our research, a fact intertwined in our strong history of pioneering discoveries. We offer a stimulating, supportive and inspiring environment working alongside exceptional researchers in top-class facilities.
We also welcome students looking to submit their own research proposals and encourage prospective doctoral students to contact our staff to discuss their intended area of study.
Funding is available for researchers to support them during their period of study.
Entrance requirements for a PhD at the University of Aberdeen are either a Masters degree or a first or upper-second class Honours degree in an appropriate area from an approved university (or an equivalent qualification).
