The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition welcomes academics from around the world to undertake, participate in, and enrich, the vibrant research of the School.

Application Procedure
To apply the following documents must be emailed to the contact listed above for the appropriate Institute at least one month prior to your intended visit.
- A completed Honorary Proposal Form
- A curriculum vitae that includes details of your academic employment and publications
- A letter from your University/Company confirming your employment and confirmation that you will return after the desired period of visit
All visitors coming into the UK must ensure they have the correct visa with which to enter the UK. Please refer to the Standard Visa Visitor Route for details.
Visiting Undergraduate, Master and PhD students

The completed form should be returned to the appropriate Institute contact listed above, together with a signed Confidentiality Agreement and Emergency Contact details.
Please note that students are responsible for paying their own registration fee.
All visitors coming into the UK must ensure they have the correct visa with which to enter the UK. Please refer to the Standard Visa Visitor Route for details.
Volunteers and school pupils requesting work experience
Volunteers are permitted for a maximum of three months. School pupils are permitted for a maximum of one week and must be a minimum of 16 years old.
The Principal Investor responsible for the laboratory visited must provide the Institute Administration/Technical Resource Management team with a schedule of when the volunteer/school pupil will be in the laboratory and named individuals responsible for providing day-to-day supervision.
To note:
- Standard access is 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. No weekend or out of hours work permitted.
- The volunteer/school pupil must not work in the lab unsupervised.
- It is not the sole responsibility of Technical staff to supervise the volunteer/school pupil.
- It is the Principal Investigators responsibility to ensure that the volunteer/school pupil is aware of and adheres to Health and Safety guidance.
- Accepting volunteers/work experience students does not prevent you from supervising Honour or Master projects.
- Emergency contact details must be provided for each volunteer/school pupil.
