Lord Hope to become Patron of Aberdeen Law Project:

Ahead of its third Annual General Meeting, the Aberdeen Law Project is delighted to announce that the Rt. Hon. Lord Hope of Craighead, Deputy President of The Supreme Court, has accepted an invitation from the Project to become a Patron.

Lord Hope, who holds an honorary degree from the University of Aberdeen, will become the project’s fourth Patron, joining Dame Hazel Genn, Lord Nicol Stephen and Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management.

Commenting on his appointment, Lord Hope said: “I was delighted to have been asked, as the Project is such an imaginative project. The study of law is at its best when it is linked to how the law works out in practice. The more that can be done to bring students into close contact with the way cases are being handled every day in our courts and tribunals the better. The Project offers that opportunity to everyone who takes part in it, and I wish it all success in what it seeks to achieve.”

Anna Robertson, Deputy Student Director of The Aberdeen Law Project, said: “The students of the Project are delighted that such an esteemed member of the UK’s legal profession has decided to support our work. It is an honour which provides great encouragement to our team as we look to build upon our previous successes in serving the North East community.”
