The Centre for Private International Law has set up two annual prizes in memory of Professor Jonathan Fitchen. Jon, who was a much-loved colleague and an outstanding private international law scholar, led the Centre from 2018 until his untimely death in January 2021.
The ‘Jonathan Fitchen Prize in Private International Law’ will be awarded to the student with the best overall performance in the Level 2 Private International Law course; and the ‘Jonathan Fitchen Private International Law Dissertation Prize’ will be awarded to the student who produces the best LLB dissertation on a Private International Law topic. The prizes will be a fitting commemoration of Professor Fitchen’s passion for private international law and his legacy as a leading scholar in the field.
