Parotid Gland:
- The parotid gland, on each side, is located anterior and inferior to the external auditory meatus
- The parotid gland is the largest of the salivary glands
- The glandular acini of the parotid gland are enclosed within a thin capsule of dense connective tissue
- The secretory cells are all serous and produce a range of enzymes
- However, the secretions do have a high content of amylase
