The HSRU Public Engagement Group (PEG) organised a TweetChat on 20 May 2021, 12-30-1.30 to mark International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD). The chat was hosted by the HSRU Twitter page using the hashtag #TrialsChat.
The event, which was advertised ahead of ICTD through the PEG Instagram, PEG Twitter and HSRU Twitter accounts, invited people to share their views on Clinical Trials and Public Engagement.
During the TweetChat hour, lots of interesting and thought-provoking discussion took place. For example, when asked ‘How can we improve virtual events aimed at the public?’, suggestions ranged from hosting a Q and A session (similar to BBC News’ Covid Q and A with Prof Linda Bauld and Dr Chris Smith) to liaising with existing community groups or involving social media ‘influencers’ to link to different audiences. A total of 23 different accounts got involved and 100 tweets were sent in total. The #TrialsChat tweets were seen over 107,000 times (also known as Twitter Impressions). You can see the Twitter full conversation by searching #TrialsChat.
Thanks to all those who took part and helped to celebrate International Clinical Trials Day.
