Lifetime achievement award for emeritus academic

Academic recognised for contribution to nature conservation

Congratulations to Dr Mark Young, emeritus senior lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences who has been named the recipient of the RSPB’s 2020 Nature of Scotland’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr Young received the award for his considerable contribution to nature conservation.

The Nature of Scotland Awards, now in their ninth year, are led by conservation charity RSPB Scotland and co-sponsored by national agency NatureScot.

This year’s winners were announced during a virtual ceremony staged in front of an online audience.

Head of the School of Biological Sciences, Professor Graeme Paton said: “Mark Young is indeed an inspiration on account of the diversity of ecological habitats in which he has expertise. Because of his enthusiasm in both teaching and research we have been delighted to name one of our final year student  prizes after him and are pleased that he takes pride in presenting it to our student winners.”
