Student Update - 02 April
Dear Student,
The University has undertaken significant work to address the challenges associated with Covid-19 for teaching, learning and assessment.
We appreciate the way in which students have engaged in dialogue with us so that we are able to understand those challenges and your concerns.
You will know that we cancelled the majority of assessment at levels 1 and 2, but that level 3, 4 and 5 assessments are to continue. Some of that assessment will be in a different format to take account of the fact that we can no longer deliver in-person examinations or assessment.
Further to this, we know that many of you are facing challenges in your learning experience caused by the Covid-19 situation, and that this may make it difficult for you to achieve the grades that you had hoped to. Our aim is to ensure that the fairness and integrity of the award of your degree is in place, while also supporting you through these difficult times.
We have listened to students who have asked that we consider implementing a ‘no detriment’ policy. As you may be aware, a no detriment policy aims to provide a ‘safety net’ for graduating and progressing students in the context of the disruption that has been caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are sympathetic to these requests and are minded to introduce such a policy. You will appreciate that this is a complex piece of work and will take a bit of time to undertake. I will be in a position to provide you with an update on this next week.
