Announcing a new Automation Task Force and opportunities to engage

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to announce the formation of a new Automation Task Force, dedicated to enhancing our processes through innovative automation solutions. This initiative aims to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the University. The Automation Task Force was recently approved by the Digital Strategy Committee as one of several actions to support the New Ways of Working strategic priority.

Colleagues across the University are invited to use this Web form to suggest existing processes that have potential for automation; Task Force members will then work closely with the relevant Professional Service Directorates and Schools to understand those processes and to develop appropriate automation solutions.

More information on the Automation Task Force and how it will operate can be found here

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Task Force in the following roles:

  1. Co-Convenor (2 positions): We will appoint one co-convenor from the academic community and one from professional services. As a co-convenor, you will play a pivotal role in leading the taskforce, defining priorities, and coordinating efforts to implement automation projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, a passion for innovation, and experience in process improvement.

  1. General Members (4 positions): We will appoint two members from the academic community and two from professional services. General members will collaborate with the co-convenors and other team members to identify areas for automation, aid with review and prioritisation, and champion the implementation of automation initiatives. Ideal candidates should have a keen interest in technology and process optimisation.

Why Join the Automation Task Force?

  • Make a Difference: Contribute to meaningful projects that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of University operations.

  • Develop Skills: Gain valuable experience in automation technologies, project management, and process improvement.

  • Collaborate: Work with a diverse group of colleagues from various departments and backgrounds.

  • Innovate: Be at the forefront of driving change and innovation within the University.

If you are interested in joining the Automation Taskforce, please submit your application using this online form by 17:00 on 28th February 2025.

For any questions about the Task Force or further information, please contact automation@abdn.ac.uk
