The Interdisciplinary Institute is establishing a series of informal drop-in sessions at approximately six-week intervals in the Interdisciplinary Lounge in Crombie Halls.
The aim of these sessions is to allow any member of the University community interested in interdisciplinary research or education to meet colleagues, including the Institute’s Directors and Fellows, in an informal setting to discuss current work or future plans. Some of the sessions may be themed to act as a focus for discussion, while others will have no fixed agenda to allow open discussion of any topic.
Please complete the below form to register your attendance.
The next Interdisciplinary Institute Networking Session will be on 7th October, 12pm - 1pm, in the Crombie Halls Interdisciplinary Lounge and has a focus on AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has immense potential to revolutionize healthcare, a topic of growing interest among researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders. Our University has extensive research capabilities in both of these domains, however, interdisciplinary collaboration involving Health and Health Data Science experts and AI experts from Computer Science, Physics, and Engineering remains underdeveloped, leaving much untapped potential. Join us for an informal networking session aimed at fostering these collaborations. Together, we will address existing challenges and identify pathways to unite researchers from the Old Aberdeen and Foresterhill campuses for meaningful partnerships. The agenda can be found below:
- Presentations: A series of brief talks sharing insights and experiences from existing collaborations between AI and healthcare. (If interested in presenting, please reach out to Milan Markovic at milan.markovic@abdn.ac.uk)
- Discussion Topics:
- What are the current barriers to collaboration?
- What new opportunities can interdisciplinary collaborations offer?
- What steps can we, as a community, take to encourage and support these collaborations?
We look forward to your participation in shaping the future of AI-driven healthcare!
Coffee and tea will be provided. All are welcome!
