University and College Union
The University of Aberdeen recognises the University and College Union (UCU) as the appropriate Trades Union for the purposes of consultation and negotiation on the terms and conditions of employment of all staff employed at Grade 5 and above, including employed postgraduates. The UCU has undertaken to consult the BMA on matters affecting medically qualified staff.
The University of Aberdeen recognises UNISON as the appropriate Trades Union for consultation on collective issues affecting Secretarial and Support Staff (other than for those matters negotiated between UCEA and UNISON at national level).

The University of Aberdeen recognises the Unite union (formerly TGWU and Amicus) as the appropriate Trades Union for consultation on collective issues affecting technical and support staff.

University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health
Prospect
Following the merger of the University with the Rowett Research Institute to form the University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, the University formally recognised the Trade Union Prospect in respect of the RINH staff who transferred to the University upon merger.
