Learners’ Toolkit - Computing’s Design Team of the Year!

Congratulations to the Learners’ Toolkit team who scooped ‘Design Team of the Year’ at Computing’s Digital Technology Leader Awards.

This award celebrates “designers working within digital teams to bring new ideas to life in fresh, bold and eye-catching ways”, and Toolkit more than met the judging criteria: quality of design, ease of use, and consistent look and feel across all online digital channels.

Zee Allison, Toolkit’s Digital Designer and Developer, and Colin Denholm, Web Developer, collected the award at a glitzy ceremony in London on Thursday 6 July.

Learners’ Toolkit is the University’s multi (now!) award winning digital information resource for students and staff.

Hosted on the University’s first custom-built, fully responsive platform, it brings together support and information from diverse teams across campus. Since its launch in 2015, the Toolkit has become a trusted source of support and information and has: showcased over 50 videos created in-house; hosted over 40 videos for external partners, services and departments such as Library and Careers; published, and in many cases authored, hundreds of detailed user guides and workbooks.

Brian Henderson, Director of IT, said: “We are extremely proud of Toolkit’s success to date. Positive user feedback and web statistics show that we are delivering real value, and that staff and students appreciate the benefit of a user-centric system that is fully accessible and visually striking.”

Toolkit was also shortlisted this year for the Herald’s Higher Education ‘Innovation Technology Excellence Award’.

Computing is the UK’s leading business technology information resource.
