Bitesize Data Protection: Be mindful of what you record

Did you know that information you record could be subject to a Freedom of Information request or a request for personal data under UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

Anyone can ask for information you have recorded on our systems, including emails, Teams posts and chats. Chats in Teams are not confidential or out of scope.

If such a request is made, your privacy rights will always be considered, but the information may have to be disclosed if there is a compelling reason.

Opinions about other people are considered their personal data, as are facts about their background, private and professional lives, performance and behaviour. These may have to be provided.

Please always be mindful of what you record on University systems. At all times be accurate in your recording, respectful of others, and record only what is necessary.
