Throughout June we celebrate Pride Month.

Everyone in our UoA community are warmly invited to take part in our programme of events, exploring our highlighted resources and connect with the community.

We wish everyone a Happy Pride Month!

University Programme of Events

  • Banner & Sign-making afternoon

    5 June, Union Brew from 4pm

Join us for a fun and social event ahead of the Pride parade, meet new friends and plan your month ahead! Materials (feel free to bring own), snacks & drinks provided. Open to all students & staff. Set list provided for the event from DJ Inner Saboteur.

  • "Societies With More Than Two Genders" - Hybrid talk by Professor Bill Naphy

    9 June, KCG7 / Online, 5pm

Join this very engaging talk by professor in History, Bill Naphy, taking us on a guided tour of historical and modern day cultures that recognise three or more genders. The talk will be followed by a Q+A. Please let us know if you plan to attend in person or online via THIS LINK.

  • Movie Night

    17 June, NK10, 5.30pm (film plays at 6pm)

Come along to a relaxed movie night open to all. Film of the evening: Pride (2014). Light snacks provided.

  • Destabilising the Gender Binary: Depictions of Fluidity and Non-normativity Across Time - Hybrid

    26 June, CB009 / Online, 2 - 3.30pm

Photography Exhibition

Part 1: Inspiration

From Monday 2 June, come and see a display of artwork on queer liberation from various artists. Read the stories behind each photo and get inspired to submit your own photos and stories to be part of our Pride Month Photography Exhibition at Union Brew, launching later in the month.

Submission deadline 22 June, open to both students and staff. Submit via THIS FORM.

Part 2: Student and staff submissions

From Thursday 26 June in Union Brew: Join us for a vibrant exhibition showcasing photographs and personal stories submitted by our LGBTQ+ students and staff, reflecting on what Pride means to them. The exhibition will be up for two weeks, everyone is welcome to explore the work.

  • Alternative Pride

    7 June, city from 11am

After the Pride parade you are welcome to join the alternative picnic in Union Terrace Gardens.
