We are pleased to invite applications for the role of Dean for Environmental Sustainability which reports to the Senior Vice-Principal. The successful candidate will succeed the University’s first Dean for Environmental Sustainability, Professor Tavis Potts, who will step down from the role after nearly three years, once a successor is appointed, to allow him to focus on leading the JUST-Systems project.

For this role candidates should have a demonstrable commitment to sustainability. They should have extensive experience in a higher education environment, with a track record of success in meeting or exceeding challenging targets. You will be an excellent communicator who is able to influence and work effectively across the University, and externally, at all levels. You should have a demonstrable ability to think strategically at an institutional level, negotiate, find and implement novel solutions, and communicate your ideas with sensitivity and diplomacy.
It is expected that School level duties will be adjusted to an agreed level with an expectation that the successful candidate will dedicate 50% of their time to the role, with the remaining 50% spent on academic matters within their School. Consideration will be given to alternative work patterns. Deans receive a superannuable allowance of £5,000 per annum. This post is available for a period of three years.
