Course Booking HR Reporting

Directorate of People

Kenny Bruce

The course booking system holds a wide range of course and events that people can register on. Furthermore there is the opportunity for the course administrator to confirm the attendance and completion of the course. There is a need however to extend this functionality by linking this attendance/completing with the corresponding attainment record in the HR system to facilitate better reporting on completion rates per course and also reporting by employee. Linking with the HR record will also support the ability to report accurately within Schools/Sections and account for employees who leave, move around the institution or have multiple posts. Over and above the Course Booking system a mechanism for transferring course achievements could be extended to other systems – such as Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and IT Security as part of phased process to establish a central registry of all institutionally provided/mandated training. Core training requirements as part of the Induction process can also be monitored through the reporting along with any requirements for refresher training. The report would also be used as part of the conversation at Annual reviews to ensure objectives have been met and discussions around further development and the application of learning from attendance at training and accredited course completions (ILM). Analysis of attendance would also be instrumental in planning training dates for sessions based on the times of the year where uptake can be maximised, exploring trends to optimise on key periods of attendance and avoid periods of low uptake.
