Internal and External Groups

Education Technologies Group

The Educational Technologies Advisory Group (ETAG) reports to the University Education Committee (UEC) and provides advice, oversight and strategic direction in relation to the use of educational technologies in learning, teaching and assessment. The group monitors emerging developments, evaluates opportunities and risks, and advises on approaches that enhance the student learning experience. It also acts as a forum to share good practice, align initiatives with institutional priorities and ensure that technology-enabled education is inclusive and sustainable.

AI@ABDN Group

A sub-group of the Digital Strategy Committee with a responsibility to oversee the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy, governance and policy, as well as make recommendations to Digital Strategy Committee for strategic investment in AI technologies and systems.

The AI@ABDN Group also oversees the approval of new AI tools for use at the University. The University currently approves the use of Co-Pilot (only the version available via your University's Microsoft 365 licence). However, if you wish the University to consider another AI tool, follow the guidance on our approval process and then submit your recommendation to the group.

AI Pilot: Assessment and Feedback Project

The AI Pilot: Assessment and Feedback Project started in November 2025 and is a subset of the AI@ABDN project, and will pilot artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to support Assessment and Feedback at the University. The project will investigate technologies which contribute to workload reduction for academic staff and ensure that students receive actionable feedback on assessment. The software which will be initially considered is KEATH.ai and Graide, which will use historical assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the tool, understand the practicalities and implications of adoption and prepare a recommendation on the next steps.

Scottish AI in Tertiary Education network (ScAITEN)

We share practice on AI in Education at sector-level through the Scottish AI in Tertiary Education network (ScAITEN). We were also involved in shaping a Scottish Tertiary Education statement on GenAI in Education and associated principles, which has been approved by Universities Scotland Learning & Teaching Committee - see https://sites.google.com/view/scaiten/home, and by our own University Education Committee.
