Getting the message out about research achievements, discoveries, and new projects is so vital to what we do as a University, and the comms team just make it look easy. Finding the right message and the right audiences at the right time is crucial, and the experienced and well-connected team bring their specialist skills to shape a research story so it can have a major media impact. Jo in particular has helped place some fabulous stories – the earliest whisky still in Scotland and a BAFTA nomination are some highlights – coordinating with other organisations’ press officers and supporting us for media interviews, not to mention documenting all the coverage. I’m always in admiration of how the team can make a complex story clear & interesting, and an interesting story into something really exciting!
