Dr Heather Morgan - The Institute of Applied Health Sciences

Engaging with the media, initially through local coverage of public engagement events related to smoking and digital health research, has led to invitations to become a trustee of a charity, policy engagement through talks at the Scottish Parliament (which has led to lobbying at EU level) and industry collaborations, as well as interactions with publics beyond Aberdeen. 

Working with the Communications Team to prepare press releases ahead of publication of papers has been invaluable for both recruitment to human studies and supporting high profile coverage of research (e.g. BBC Radio 4, BBC Breakfast TV, Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2, Sky News, STV, Daily Mail).
