How to contribute

There are 3 ways to contribute to the Symposium:

  1. Poster session
  2. Short 3-minute presentation
  3. Show & Tell: Share Your Creative use of the VLE

Complete this online form by Friday 6 February 2026.

Please note that you need to complete the form for every submission, whether it’s for a poster, a 3-minute presentation or a VLE Showcase.

Poster

To submit a poster proposal, please provide a title and brief abstract of up to 100 words, indicating how your abstract relates to the Symposium theme: From Participation to Belonging: Exploring Student and Staff Perspectives on Engagement and/or an element of the QAA Scotland’s Enhancement Topic: Supporting Diverse Learner Journeys. Abstracts based on posters created for other events are welcome as long as they relate to either or both of the topics. Selected abstracts will have to be submitted as posters by Monday 30 March 2026. Please note that if your poster is accepted, you will be expected to attend on the day.

Short presentation

To submit a proposal for a short 3-minute presentation, please provide a title and brief abstract of up to 100 words, indicating how your abstract relates to the Symposium theme: From Participation to Belonging: Exploring Student and Staff Perspectives on Engagement and/or an element of the QAA Scotland’s Enhancement Topic: Supporting Diverse Learner Journeys.

Please note:

- sessions run in parallel therefore only one talk abstract per person can be accepted (if you are submitting more than one abstract, please specify who the presenter/s will be in the form)
- if your talk proposal is accepted, you will have to be present on the day

Show & Tell - Share Your Creative use of the VLE

This could be an approach, tool, activity or design that could inspire fellow educators. It could be a unique way of engaging students, creative use of one of the built-in tools in the VLE or a simple tweak that made a big impact. This is an opportunity to share something innovative, exciting, or just plain fun in your course design. What feels like everyday practice to you might spark fresh ideas for others. To submit a proposal, please include up to 100 words describing the good practice which  you will be showcasing.

Please note:
- that the text you submit will be included in Symposium programme
- space is limited so it may not be possible to include all examples
- if your talk proposal is accepted, you will have to be present on the day
