Bill Celebrates Retirement with Prize for History Students

After 28 and a half years at the University, Bill Naphy, Professor of Early Modern History, is embarking on a new chapter of his life and, in celebration of his time at Aberdeen, has made a generous gift to establish the Hector Boece Prize for Best Performance in History. This prestigious prize recognises and celebrates a student who has gone above and beyond to achieve academic excellence in their year and is a cause close to Professor Naphy’s heart.

Bill’s dedication and passion has had a profound impact on the University and its students. His ability to inspire a love for history, and the invaluable guidance he's provided throughout his time here will be missed by many, but we are also very excited for him and what is to come.

In lieu of a traditional leaving gift, Bill is inviting those who wish to join him in celebrating this occasion to also contribute towards the Hector Boece Prize fund and help ensure History students can keep being recognised for their achievements for many years to come.

If you would like to help mark Professor Naphy’s retirement from the University and make a kind gift in support of the Hector Boece Prize you can do so by following this link to Professor Naphy’s JustGiving page where you will see a personal message from him.
