Mexican Ambassador in University visit

Mexican Ambassador in University visit

Mexico's Ambassador to the UK was a guest of honour at the University of Aberdeen last week, where he met with some of the University's Mexican students as well as senior academic staff.

His Excellency Mr Julián Ventura Valero visited Old Aberdeen on Friday, as part of a visit that included meetings with academics who are involved in research in Mexico.

In addition to a growing number of research collaborations, the University has proved a popular destination for Mexican students in the last few years, particularly in energy-related subjects across Engineering, Geosciences, Business and Law.

Around 50 students were present to meet Ambassador Ventura Valero, who happily posed for photos in King’s College Quad.

Following the successful visit, Professor Richard Wells, Vice-Principal for Internationalisation, said: “It was a great honour to welcome His Excellency Mr Julián Ventura Valero to campus.

“Mexico is one of the University’s main international priorities and we have a large number of academics engaged in research with institutions and industry partners in Mexico, particularly in relation to energy.

“Today’s visit was a great opportunity for us to discuss these activities with the Ambassador, and for him to hear directly from our Mexican staff and students about their wonderful experience at the University of Aberdeen.”
