The next United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31, will take place in Türkiye from 9 - 20 November 2026.
The University of Aberdeen is an accredited Observer Organisation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and is eligible to nominate delegates to attend both COP meetings and UNFCCC intersessional meetings.
Staff and students who are interested in joining the delegation (in person or virtually) are required to register by Firday 7 August 2026.
Please note that submitting an Expression of Interest and/or being nominated by the University does not guarantee attendance. Each year, the University receives significantly more expressions of interest than there are delegate badges available. The number of on-site badges allocated to Observer Organisations by the UNFCCC Secretariat is typically very limited, whereas a larger number of virtual delegate badges are usually available. The University's allocation of delegate badges for COP31 is expected to be confirmed by the UNFCCC Secretariat in early September 2026.
