Volunteers are being sought to support The Magic of the Mind, a major public engagement event taking place at Aberdeen Art Gallery on Wednesday 18 June.
The event marks 130 years of Psychology at Aberdeen and will bring together members of the public for an evening of interactive activities, demonstrations and exhibits exploring the science of the mind. Activities will include neuroscience demonstrations, robotics, virtual reality experiences, live magic and hands-on psychology experiments.
A large audience is expected throughout the evening, and additional volunteers are needed to help support visitors and assist with activities. No specialist knowledge or psychology background is required.
The School is also recruiting volunteers to take part in a live psychology study on eyewitness identification. In particular, expressions of interest are welcomed from pairs of people who share similar physical characteristics, such as hair colour and length, height and general build. Friends, classmates, flatmates and siblings are all encouraged to participate.
Volunteers taking part in the study will be involved in a brief exposure phase before appearing in a short identity parade as part of the live demonstration.
Anyone interested in volunteering at the event or participating in the study should contact psychology130years@abdn.ac.uk.
