The restricted hours and capacity for the Sir Duncan Rice Library that I referenced in our message earlier in the week are to stay in place until at least Sunday 17 August but could last until the end of the month.
Following a more thorough investigation into the issue and having consulted with external contractors, it is clear that the necessary maintenance will take longer than initially thought.
For clarity, the library will now open:
- Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm
- With a maximum occupancy of 150 users at any one time
- It will not open in the evenings or weekends until the issue is resolved
The timeline for the work remains fluid at this time but next week we hope we will be able to review progress and update accordingly.
As we mentioned in our previous message, the maximum occupancy at any one time over the summer is generally far fewer than 150 people but we appreciate those who use the facility in the evenings and on Saturdays will be inconvenienced and we apologise for this.
There remains weekend and evening provision at the Medical Library at Foresterhill and the Taylor Library is open Monday-Friday during the day. Full details of all the library opening times are here.
Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this situation.
Kind regards
Simon and Ian
