The Music Department at the University of Aberdeen is a thriving learning, performing and research community. Department staff cover a wide range of research interests, spanning composition, musicology and performance, and we have over 30 visiting instrumental teachers who bring their practical and teaching expertise to our programmes. Staff are active as musicologists, composers and performers and their work is recognised and valued throughout the world, both in research communities as well as in the concert hall and via broadcast media. The University of Aberdeen place both Music and Music Education in the same department, and is one of only a handful of degrees in Music which incorporate a teaching qualification, which has a positive benefit for all staff and students.
