Our music staff possess a wide range of research expertise encompassing aspects of performance, composition and musicology. Facilities for music students are first-class, including purpose-built electroacoustic music studios, a Music Technology Laboratory, a wide-ranging collection of historical instruments and a Balinese Gamelan.
We offer a BMus in three areas - Music, Music Education and Community Music. Although a student can be admitted to only one of these degree programmes, the curriculum is flexible enough to allow students to transfer between them after arriving in Aberdeen, especially during the first two years.
Our postgraduate taught degrees are flexible enough to allow students to combine elements of composition, performance and musicology according to the nature of their project, and staff in the Music Department have a range of research expertise and experience to supervise a variety of postgraduate research degrees.
