The University has a zero tolerance approach to sexual violence and harassment. We will do all that we can to support students and staff who have been affected by sexual violence or sexual harassment at any time and anywhere.
The Statement of Commitment emphasises our approach and please visit the page to find out more about it.
Currently the university is writing a new policy and accompanying procedure relating to this issue, it will be published in due course.
In the meantime, incidents of sexual violence and sexual harassment can be disciplined through existing policies.
Policies related to this issue include:
- Code of Practice on Student Discipline (Non-Academic)
- Disciplinary Procedure Staff
- Staffing Policy against Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying in the workplace.
This is not a definitive list, other policies may apply.
- Statement of Commitment
In February 2019 the University of Aberdeen and Aberdeen
University Students' Association (AUSA) re-signed a Statement of Commitment to address sexual violence and sexual harassment on campus.
The statement of commitment is a signed promise made by the University and AUSA to work together to address sexual violence and harassment on campus, and states hostile environments which encourage these behaviours will not be tolerated.
The signing marked the launch of our new Confidential Reporting Tool, where students staff and visitors can make online reports of sexual assault, violence and harassment.
