The Hardship Fund is available to International students and those not eligible for the Discretionary Fund.
If you are struggling financially due to unexpected or unforeseen circumstances, you can apply to the Hardship Fund.
The Hardship Fund is now open for the 2026/27 academic year and we are accepting applications for financial support from currently registered students.
What the fund covers
The Hardship Fund offers one-off support for short term essential costs (e.g. food & other living expenses).

Depending on your situation, awards may be given as food vouchers, digital equipment or a bank payment. If your situation does not improve after being granted an award, you can speak to an adviser. To do this, please email hardship@abdn.ac.uk
