The University has been notified by the University and College Union of industrial action that members are due to take next month.
Dates given by the UCU for are as follows:
- Continuous action short of strike – beginning on Thursday 12 March. This comprises working to contract; not covering for colleagues; not rescheduling lectures, classes or activities cancelled due to strike action; not sharing/ uploading materials related to lectures, classes or activities cancelled due to strike action and not undertaking any voluntary duties.
- Strike action – Thursday 12, Friday 13, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 March.
The University anticipates that only a small number of students will be affected and the campus and buildings will remain open for business as normal during strike action. You should attend your classes as normal unless you hear otherwise.
Only some academic staff are UCU members and not all members of UCU may participate in all or any strike days, meaning the extent of action will vary across the University. Staff do not have to tell the University if they plan to take strike action, but your School will keep you updated as far as possible. You should contact your School if you have any concerns. The University will be working hard to minimise the impact on you and your education and will keep you updated.
Best wishes
