Like most places, the University doesn’t have enough parking for everyone who wants to drive. To help maximise the space we have, we use permits to give various groups access to parking. Permits are needed on weekdays until 4pm. More information about student parking is available online.
Additional information:
Daily Parking
A student car park is available beside the Butchart Building on University Road. Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis, and cost £1.20 per day. Payment is made via the PayByPhone parking app using the code on display in the car park, which is 807579. There is also on-street parking available, provided by the city council, on University Road and Bedford Road. Payment for on-street parking is also made via the PayByPhone parking app using the information provided by the council by the roadside.
Annual Parking
If you need to park often, it may be worth considering applying for an annual permit. There are a limited number of annual permits available but they allow students to park in staff car parks on campus. They cost £264 per year, but a rebate can be claimed on any unused months if you no longer need it towards the end of term.
Disabled Parking
If you have a blue disabled badge, you can park in any of the disabled, or regular, bays on campus. No payment is needed, you just need to display your blue badge clearly in your front windscreen.
Supported Parking
If you have mobility needs, or other circumstances that affect how you travel, you may be able to get additional parking support through our Student Support Team. Please contact them to discuss your individual circumstances so that they can arrange appropriate support to help you.
Parking Enforcement
To make sure the car parks at the University are safe and accessible, we issue Warnings and Parking Charge Notices to vehicles that don’t comply with the rules that are posted in the car parks. Warnings will often contain information to help people park in a way that meets the rules of the car park. Parking Charge Notices are a fee of £60, which can be discounted to £30 for prompt payment, and will show a reason why the charge was issued. Parking Charge Notices can be appealed with the parking enforcement company using the appeals information on the back of the ticket. If an appeal is unsuccessful, a further appeal to POPLA, an independent adjudication service, is also possible. Information and advice on Parking Charge Notices in Scotland is available from the Citizens Advice service here: Citizens Advice - Parking (Scotland) If you have any queries about parking at the University, more information can be found online or you can e-mail the Estates & Facilities Team, estates@abdn.ac.uk.
