The Opera Society focuses on providing an opportunity for students to help organise and perform opera. Since its formation the Society has performed several successful operas including The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, The Magic Flute, Eugene Onegin and most recently Dido and Aeneas. The Society enjoys several social events throughout the year and strives to bring people together whilst producing high quality opera. In the future, we plan to expand further involving more people and producing more successful and enjoyable opera productions. We welcome newcomers to opera as well as seasoned veterans.

The Opera Society runs auditions at the beginning of the year to assess singing ability and suitable voice parts for productions. These auditions are also used to cast individuals in roles for a production. The auditions are very relaxed and involve the individual singing a prepared song or aria and also the recital of a given monologue.
