  • Any merit awards
  • The definition of the Common Grading Scale bands

Current students can purchase a copy of their transcript via the Infohub (although whilst we continue to work remotely, all transcripts can be ordered from Student Records - studentrecords@abdn.ac.uk). These cost £10 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies.

Enhanced Transcript

Upon graduation, undergraduate and taught postgraduate students will receive an Enhanced Transcript along with their degree certificate, this includes all of the above, plus additional information (see panel below - Additional information on your Enhanced Transcript).

You will receive one copy of your degree certificate and Enhanced Transcript free of charge. If you wish to purchase further copies at any time, the cost is £15 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies.

Whilst we continue to work remotely, all Enhanced Transcripts can be ordered from Student Records - studentrecords@abdn.ac.uk.

Additional information on your Enhanced Transcript

If you have taken part in certain recognised or accredited co-curricular activities, you can apply for these to be displayed in the ‘additional information’ section at the bottom of your Enhanced Transcript.

Undergraduate and taught post-graduate students receive the Enhanced Transcript when they graduate from the university. Whilst you are studying, you can view your grades and extra/co-curricular activities via the student hub.

How to use your Enhanced Transcript

The Enhanced Transcript offers a more comprehensive record of your time at the University than a degree certificate.

Alongside your MySkills portfolio, the ‘additional information’ section functions as your aide-memoire and helps you to write effective applications to prospective employers and postgraduate recruiters. Enhanced Transcripts FAQs
What is the Enhanced Transcript?

The Enhanced Transcript is a formal University document which records your University achievements on one document. It records your courses and grades as well as certain co-curricular activities,

Will I receive the Enhanced Transcript?

If you are an undergraduate or a taught postgraduate student, you will receive the Enhanced Transcript when you graduate or leave the University. If you are research postgraduate student, you will not receive a formal Enhanced transcript and therefore currently cannot have your co-curricular activities recognised.

Where can I purchase a copy of my Enhanced Transcript?
Whilst you are a student you can purchase a copy of your transcript at the InfoHub. These cost £10 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies. After you have graduated you can purchase a copy of your Enhanced Transcript from Student Records. These cost £15 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies. N.B. Whilst we continue to work remotely, all transcripts can be ordered from Student Records - studentrecords@abdn.ac.uk.
I think some of my co-curricular activities are missing from my Enhanced Transcript, who can I contact?
Please contact the Careers and Employability Service in the first instance, careers@abdn.ac.uk
Will I still get a degree certificate?

Yes, the Enhanced Transcript is supplementary to a degree certificate and records your courses and grades as well as co-curricular activities in detail.

How does the Enhanced Transcript differ from a degree certificate?

A degree certificate is less detailed than the Enhanced Transcript and does not take your co-curricular experiences into account.

When do I receive the Enhanced Transcript?

You will receive your Enhanced Transcript at the same time as your degree certificate or when you leave the University.

What will appear on my Enhanced Transcript?
Your Enhanced Transcript records your courses, grades, prizes received and certain approved co-curricular activities. They can be Accredited Activities such as the Aberdeen Internship or Recognised Activities such as bp Student Tutoring roles. For more visit the 'Additional information on your Enhanced Transcript' tab above.
How do I get my achievements recorded?

Your courses and grades as well as University prizes are recorded automatically in the Enhanced Transcript. You can check what information will appear on your Enhanced Transcript by visiting the Student Hub. Accredited and Recognised Activities managed by the Careers and Employability Service will also be updated automatically as long as you meet all the requirements for the role.

What are the benefits of the Enhanced Transcript?

Alongside your MySkills portfolio, the Enhanced Transcript acts as your aide-memoire and helps you to write effective applications to prospective employers and postgraduate recruiters.

As the Enhanced Transcript is a University verified transcript, your prospective employers and postgraduate recruiters can be sure that you have gained the academic achievements and co-curricular experiences listed on it.

Why are AUSA roles no longer recognised on the Enhanced Transcript?

AUSA would like to encourage students to focus on doing their roles well and developing their skills. The MySkills portfolio can be used to record and reflect on these roles and this can be shared with prospective employers.

I am a research postgraduate student, can I participate in extra/co-curricular activities?

Any student with active status can participate in co-curricular activities offered by the University. However, if you are research postgraduate student, you will not receive a formal student transcript and therefore cannot currently have your co-curricular activities formally recognised, although you are welcome to include these on your CV and  on your MySkills portfolio.

What is the difference between accredited and recognised activities?

‘Accredited Activities’ are activities assessed by the University and which measure your development of selected Aberdeen Graduate Attributes. In contrast, ‘Recognised Activities’ are initiatives the University verifies that you have participated in.  Please note that ‘accredited’ does not mean that you gain academic credit for the activity, just that the University has assessed your development of skills and attributes through the activity.

How do I manage my academic work and co-curricular activities?

Balancing your time at university is key for academic success. It is important to find a healthy balance between your academic workload, participating in extra/co-curricular activities, and giving yourself time to relax. You are encouraged to explore the range of co-curricular activities available to you at University and plan your engagement throughout your degree rather than concentrate all your activities in one academic year.

Where can I see the activities that have been added to my Student Transcript?

Please login to the Student Hub and look under the ‘Qualifications and Awards’ section.

I have received my Student Transcript and the date is wrong for when I took part in an activity, why is this?

Please note that if you participated in an activity in academic year 2018-19, for example, it will be listed on your transcript as 2018, even if you took part in 2019. Similarly, on the Student Hub, the activity will be automatically listed for the January of the first year, i.e. 1st January 2018.

For example, a student took part in the bp Student Tutoring Scheme during January to March 2019. As this was during Academic year 2018-19, it will appear in the Student Hub as 01-Jan-2018 and on the Student Transcript as 2018.

Can I have an activity retrospectively recognised on my Student Transcript?

Unfortunately, we are unable to retrospectively recognise any roles for which you did not complete the monitoring points for at the time. If you think a role is missing from your Transcript or Student Hub, please get in touch: careers@abdn.ac.uk

How do I get involved in extra/co-curricular activities to gain new skills and enhance my Student Transcript?

The University of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen University Students’ Association offer a wide range of extra/co-curricular activities you can get involved in. Note that not all of these roles are eligible for Enhanced Transcript recognition but can be added to your MySkills portfolio.  These usually open at the start of the academic year, and some you can take part in starting in the second semester. For activities run by the Careers and Employability Service, visit www.abdn.ac.uk/careers/skills. If you’re interested in becoming a class rep or would like to get involved in student representation, please visit www.ausa.org.uk/representation/ or email ausareps@abdn.ac.uk

Will I be required to complete any assessments in order for my co-curricular activities to be recognised on my Student Transcript?

Accredited roles often require you to undertake a brief assessment. Just like an academic course assessment, it is important you adhere to University Code of Practice on Student Discipline when preparing your assessment.

It is also key that you submit your co-curricular assessment before the specified deadline as Enhanced Transcript recognition is not normally awarded by the University retrospectively.

Is MySkills a replacement for the Enhanced Transcript?

Where the Enhanced Transcript provides University recognition of activities, MySkills empowers students to record and assess their personal skills development across the duration of their studies. Previously, students could apply to have recognised or accredited extra/co-curricular activities such as Aberdeen University Students’ Association (AUSA) Roles, displayed in the ‘additional information’ of their Enhanced Transcript. From session 23/24 these will no longer be recorded on the Enhanced Transcript.  Students are now encouraged to use MySkills to record such activities, as the tool empowers students to reflect on their personal assessment of their employability skills. Students can add activities at any time without the need to apply for formal recognition. MySkills provides students with space to plan and develop their skills and create a Careers Passport. This records their engagement and allows sharing of their achievements with future employers.
