Biography
I am a Lecturer in Structural Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE) and Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
My research activities are mainly linked with the topics of offsite manufacturing, resilient and sustainable lightweight steel structures and circular construction integrating physical tests, advanced computational analysis and novel design solutions. My expertise and research record in steel structures builds on 6 years of industry experience as a structural engineer.
For my PhD at the University of Sheffield (2011), I developed new concepts for cold-formed steel (CFS) connections suitable for seismic areas based on full-scale tests and FE analysis.
As a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Warwick, I worked on EPSRC-funded research (EP/I020489/1) on improved performance of I-beam-to-tubular steel column joints.
