Whilst menopause is becoming less of a taboo subject with the introduction of menopause polices across some organisations and sectors, for example, the menopause remains unrecognised and unaddressed in many workplaces (Verdonk et al, 2021). According to the Fawcett Society (2022), one in ten women leave their workplace due to perimenopause or menopause symptoms. Women leave as they don’t feel supported or the impact on their wellbeing prevents them from working as effectively. This hub event seeks to discuss the menopause and perimenopause from two perspectives. Dr Katrina Forbes-McKay from Robert Gordon University will firstly speak to the impact of mental health and wellbeing of menopausal and perimenopausal women. Linda Engles, C.Psychol. will then discuss the impact of menopause and perimenopause on women and their intentions to leave work as well as sharing some new research being undertaken at the University of Aberdeen which seeks to identify effective psychological workplace interventions.Book your place here
