An alumni of University of Aberdeen, Brian Hills is the CEO of The Data Lab, Scotland’s Innovation Centre for Data and AI. He has worked in software and analytics roles in telecoms (HP), astronomy (University of Edinburgh), finance (Sumerian) and eCommerce (Skyscanner) before joining The Data Lab shortly after its launch. Brian was recognised as one of the most influential people in data as part of the 2022 dataIQ UK top 100 and also as an Information Age Top 50 Data Leader in the UK, winning a best in class award for contribution to data science and analytics.

Brian is passionate about helping others succeed in their career journey in data and tech; he mentors students and created The Data Lab community which now has approaching 2,000 members from over 50 countries around the world helping each other to be successful in their careers.

In this session, Brian will discuss finding a role in tech, how to approach search, why you are in a strong position and how to find the role that is right for you, followed by a Q&A.
