Wednesday 05 October 2022, 17:45 - 20:00, The Dr Joan MacCormack Lecture Series was established in memory of a former colleague and leading light in cultural history, Dr Joan MacCormack. The series ensures that Joan’s dedication and passion for teaching, learning, and collaboration continues.
This year we are delighted to welcome Dr MacCormack's son, Professor Murray Pittock, MAE FRSE. Professor Pittock is Pro Vice-Principal and Bradley Professor at the University of Glasgow and has been described as 'Scotland’s leading cultural historian’ and ‘Scotland’s leading public intellectual’. He is also a prize lecturer for both the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the British Academy. In 2020 he was elected to the European Academy for his work on Scotland in a global context.
We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a fascinating evening. The lecture will begin at 5.45pm and will be followed by a drinks reception.
