This year’s final of the Ogston Music Prize will take place on Friday the 27th April 2012 at 7.30pm in the Cowdray Hall. The panel of judges will be lead by Ralph Allwood MBE, acclaimed musician and former Director of Music at Eton College. Auditions for the award will be held on Monday the 12th of March between 10am and 6pm.
The OgstonMusic Prize 2012
If you wish to enter, please readthe following conditions carefully and submit your application exactly asoutlined below:
- Applications to enter thecompetition are welcome from any matriculatedundergraduate student at the University ofAberdeen from 2nd year upwards (without restriction on subject ofstudy or musical instrument/ voice).
- Previous winners of the OgstonMusic Prize are not eligible to enter.
- Applicants should prepare one ortwo pieces of no more than 5 minutes duration for the audition.
- You must provide your ownaccompanist for audition, and for the final if selected.
Five finalists will be selected tocompete for the prize. Each finalist should prepare a programme of 20-25minutes duration. The winner will take home a cheque for £1,000 and will beexpected to take an active part in the musical life of the University in thefollowing year; performing in at least one graduation, a Wednesday teatimeconcert and will feature in the Ogston Music Prize concert in 2012. TheAberdeen International Youth Festival will also offer a solo concert to theOgston Music Prize winner.
