Programme Prizes

The IAHS currently offers 6 prize awards which are available each academic year to the best research project in the specified programme*. 

The student with the winning project has the prize added to their student record and receives a £50 award and a certificate of achievement.

Cairns Smith Prize for Global Health  

Awarded to the best MSc in Global Health research project.

Gavin Mooney Research Prize

Awarded to best MSc in Economics of Health research project.

Marie Johnston Research Prize

Awarded to the best MSc in Health Psychology research project.

Geraldine McNeil Research Prize  

Awarded to the best MSc in Human Nutrition research project. 

Elizabeth Russell Prize for Public Health Research

Awarded to best MSc in Health Services and Public Health research project. 

Alice Kiger Research Prize

Awarded to the best MSc in Nursing and Midwifery research project.

* The best research project is agreed at the external examiners meeting and prizes may not be awarded if no project meets the criteria. The £50 award will be paid either direct into the students' account or in vouchers.  The type of award is determined by the College of Life Sciences and Medicine and is not optional.
