Athena SWAN Charter

The Institute of Applied Health Sciences, like the University as a whole, is made up of a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and circumstances, which we value and regard as a great asset. As part of our continued commitment to equality and inclusion, we endeavour to create an environment where everyone can reach their full potential and have a real opportunity to participate in and contribute to our activities.

The Athena Swan action plan was submitted as part of the bronze renewal. In 2023, the Action Plan was extended and renamed the IAHS EDI Implementation Plan, since it included other EDI aims and objectives. Going forward, this new EDI Implementation plan will be updated and colour coded regularly to illustrate progress on objectives.

The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition was awarded a Bronze award in Jan 2024 and the School and Institute EDI leads are now working on identifying areas of common priority and Institute differences.
