The Arthritis Research UK/Medical Research Council Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work was launched at the University of Southampton on February 17th.
This 5-year centre involves the University of Aberdeen as a major partner undertaking work on population approaches to improving outcome of back pain, identifying effective interventions to allow persons with musculoskeletal pain to remain at work, and looking at whether anti-TNF (“biologic”) therapy can also help patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis continuing working.
Professor Gary Macfarlane (PI) together with Dr. Gareth Jones, Dr. Neil Basu (asll Epidemiology) and Professor Marijn de Bruin (Health Psychology) are involved in the work of the centre (http://www.mrc.soton.ac.uk/cmhw).
