Formal Student Engagement

You can share your views and fuel change in formal University decision making processes by becoming a student representative.

You can get involved by:

  • Attending University Committees, including Court and Senate
  • Participating in Steering Groups, Project Boards, Task Forces and Working Groups
  • Becoming a member of Internal Teaching Review Panels
  • Completing Course Feedback Forms to feedback on the quality of teaching and learning
  • Participation in a range of surveys measuring student satisfaction and engagement
Informal

You can have your voice heard by providing face-to-face feedback to academic staff, student representatives and professional services through an exciting range of informal opportunities including:

  • Talking with staff via email or during office hours
  • Engaging with staff suring labs, classes, tutorials, field-trips and social events
  • Interacting with staff and students through online discussion groups
  • Engaging with your personal tutor to discuss co-curricular, pastoral and academic matters
  • Participating in non-academic feedback through focus groups, dialogues and opinion polls

Student Partnership Agreement

The Student Partnership Agreement sets out the ambition of Aberdeen University Students’ Association (AUSA) and the University of Aberdeen to enhance the Aberdeen experience, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students to reach their full potential.

This principles at the heart of this agreement are:

  • fostering an environment for open and ongoing dialogue between students and staff
  • embedding transparency and honesty throughout
  • recognising and being respectful of different approaches to ensuring the best Aberdeen student experience
Aim 1: Develop and sustain an inspiring and supportive community

We will explore ways to further invest in our community to create a strong and supportive network which provides continual benefit and helps students to realise their potential through:

  • Improved communication
  • Promotion of a culture of feedback
  • Campus Improvements
  • Ongoing review and development of health, wellbeing and welfare initiatives and service
Aim 2: Provide a range of broad and valuable opportunities

We will continue to provide high quality academic teaching, strong pastoral support and personal development opportunities enabling students to benefit from a well-rounded education:

  • Ongoing engagement with Aberdeen Graduate Attributes
  • Promote and support student representation on committees and advisory groups
  • Further develop and promote opportunities for students to benefit from and participate in our societies and sports clubs.
Aim 3: Create a culture where students are empowered to shape their learning experience

We will provide a means for students to feel able and empowered to participate in, and influence, their own learning experience by:

  • Exploring the potential of a forum for students and staff to discuss and influence issues relating to their student experience
  • Review, refresh and increase awareness of feedback opportunities and polices
