You should order robes at least 4-6 weeks in advance of your ceremony. Robes can be ordered from Ede & Ravenscroft, the University's official provider. Ede & Ravenscroft staff will be present during your graduation day to provide any necessary support.
Students require a gown, the appropriate hood and a trencher (hat). If you do not have robes, you may not be permitted to graduate.
When you arrive for your ceremony, you should be wearing the gown and carrying the hood and hat. Hoods are fitted as you cross the stage and hats are worn after you graduate.
If you wish to keep your robes for longer than a day, please contact the supplier in advance to arrange this.
Students can wear whatever they feel comfortable wearing. Military uniform or national costume (including full highland day dress) and/or Blues Medals may be worn. Graduation robes, hoods and trencher colours are dependent on degree, see what type of hood you will wear.
Photographs
Ede & Ravenscroft also provide the University's official portrait photography service on graduation days. Should you wish to. you can book photographs at the same time you hire your gown.
