Aberdeen International Youth Festival Launch

Aberdeen International Youth Festival Launch

This is a past event

University staff are invited to this year's AIYF launch event in James Mackay Hall.

Join us for exciting performances from:

World Music Program

The World Music Program has as its highest aspiration the fostering of a compassionate global consciousness through the development of musical skills and the act of creating performance works. It was founded in 2004 by Adrian Dyck and Paige Freeborn, who are its Directors. It is a performance program that provides a context for students to develop interest, curiosity and enjoyment in their own musical creativity and that of others. Performers will play on traditional African marimbas.

Aeon Duo

The interesting combination of cold Finland and spicy Mexico comes together when listening to Aeon Duo. The ensemble has been performing together since 2013, when Essi Kiiski (Violin) and Eduardo Andrade (Composer and pianist) began studies at the Royal College of Music in London. They will be performing both classical arrangements, as well as Eduardo's own compositions. Aeon is an incomparable duo where Kiiski’s musicality and Andrade’s virtuosity capture the listener into a journey full of tastes and colours.

Stord Ungdomskor Choir

Enjoy hearing this talented all-girls choir performing a varied repertoire of Norwegian folk music, musical theatre and familiar songs. This is a welcome return to AIYF for this group who are always in good voice whether singing classical songs or hits from Abba.
