Dean for Postgraduate Research

The Dean for Postgraduate Research oversees all aspects of the administration of the PGR School. They are responsible for oversight of the delivery of training, and the maintenance of standards and for representing the interests of postgraduate students in the senior committees of the University.

The Dean for Postgraduate Research or their representatives are responsible for:

•    promoting excellence in PG research
•    ensuring that a first class structure for PGR training and assessment is provided
•    overseeing comprehensive PG training including transferable and generic skills, and research techniques
•    acting as a central repository of information, maintaining important databases including courses, supervisors, research project areas, PGR students’ details, studentships and other sources of funding
•    ensuring facilities and support for postgraduate students are provided
•    ensuring that training for supervisors is provided
•    overseeing the management of PGR students’ training and supervision
•    overseeing monitoring of PGR students’ progress
•    overseeing marketing and recruitment in consultation with the Student Recruitment and Marketing
