We are passionate about your development – academic and personal – and equipping you with the skills, knowledge and experience to stand out in your field. Your tailored programme ranges from research ethics and integrity to project management, leadership, communication, public engagement, enterprise and impact from research.

Our sector-leading strategy aligns with major national and international programmes such as the Vitae Researcher Development Framework, RCUK Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research and the Manifesto for Engaging the Public with Research.

Through training, events and other opportunities you’ll become proficient in presenting, discussing and writing about your research with the public, media, business representatives, teachers and schoolchildren, policymakers and potential funders.

You’ll have the opportunity to join our community café programme and annual May Festival, enter national competitions and award schemes, take part in European Researchers’ Night, attend conferences and present your research to the wider academic community, and write for the student-led publications Granite Journal and AU magazine.
