Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting Studies in the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture (LLMVC).  I have been involved in translator and interpreter training for a long time. I also carry out freelance translation and interpreting work. I have taught translation & interpreting at a number of academic institutions in the UK (The University of Bradford; The University of Leeds; The University of Salford). I am the Programme Director of the MSc in Translation Studies and the MSc in Translation and Interpreting Studies. I designed the undergraduate programme in Modern Languages and Translation and Interpreting Studies with Overseas Placement, and coordinated it from 2018 - 2020. I am also the Director of the Centre for Translation and Interpreting Studies in LLMVC since March 2021.

I am a Fellow of the UK's Higher Education Academy (2015 - )

My research interests fall in the areas of Translation Studies; Literary Translation; Interpreting Studies; Audio-visual Translation and Translator and Interpreter Training.

Researcher on the European Graduate Placement Scheme Project funded by the EU (Oct 2012-March 2015) – “an international project and consortium of four partner institutions from four different countries (Germany, Spain, Poland, England) to further cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprise, while stimulating mobility. Its overall outcome was a placement model to be embedded into translation courses”
