During your time at the University you may need to prove your status as a student to external bodies. There are a number of ways the University can help you with this:
Completion of forms
If you have a form which needs to be completed for a funding authority or any other organisation, please take this to the Duty Registry Officer in the Infohub who will normally complete the form for you immediately. Please be aware that in some cases the form may take a day or two to complete.
Confirmation of registration
A student certificate is available free of charge from the Infohub on production of your ID card, and is prepared while you wait. The student certificate gives details of your name, date of birth, degree programme, start date, expected/actual end date, ID number and whether you are registered full-time or part-time. The certificate is stamped and signed by a member of staff.
Confirmation of registration letter
If a student certificate is not sufficient, you can request a confirmation of registration letter, which states you are a registered student at the University. These are not immediately available and can take up to five working days to produce at busy times of the year. You can apply for an official letter via theOnline Store or in person at the Infohub. Please note that there is a charge for official letters.
Council tax exemption
Full-time students are exempt from paying council tax. Upon registration, the University will inform the Aberdeen City Council of your student status. However, if you are asked by your Council of evidence of your student status, a Council Tax Certificate is available free of charge from the Infohub on production of your ID card, and is prepared while you wait. The certificate gives details of your name, date of birth, degree programme, ID number and both your home and term-time addresses. The certificate is stamped and signed by a member of staff.
