Most recently, we were invited by Public Health Wales to provide their staff members with a grounding in epidemiological research methods, and we subsequently ran a 5-day course in Cardiff, where the assembled group of healthcare professionals, analysts and data scientists from the public health body were given an intensive education on the key aspects of epidemiological research, including qualitative and quantitative research design and methodology, validity and reliability, sampling and the use of confidence intervals, and the use of ‘big data’ in research.
